This is angering.
IMPOTANT: He plays the violin and enjoys woodworking.
NOT IMPORTANT: Admitted sexual molestation.
as many of us saw in the pbs news hour program and the abc news nightline program the elders from one congregation failed to communicate properly to the elders in another congregation concerning the child molester jonathan kendrick when he moved to a new congregation.
i have parts of this " introduction letter " from the fremont congregation to the oakley congregation elders so you can read it for yourself and decide how irresponsible these wt appointed elders were.
dated 1/16/98 it opens : .

i have always been a very rational and thoughtful person.
there where always questions i had growing up regarding things i was taught.
of course asking questions while being a jw is a big no no!
I'll take a stab at the basic JW answers on these if you want. (puts on cult hat)
Why are we not allowed to have beards?
Well you can have beards if you like. After all, Jesus has a beard and hair grows on mens faces. However, because we are a "spectacle to the world", and many are still stumbled by this appearance or believe it represents a person of suspicious motive......we really encourage all to put on the new personality, and not allow themselves to put personal taste above what may be a stumbling block for those in the ministry. even then if someone insists on having a beard, they can, but cannot enjoy special privileges in the congregation. Who would want to miss out on that!
Why no tattoos is mosaic law is over?
(see beards......add tatoos making declaration of "ownership" of your body, and willingly gave ourselves to Jehovah in baptism)
If god is love, why does he allow so much suffering? From what I remember their main answer was that it started in Eden when Satan challenged Gods right to rule. However, I refuse to believe that a God of Love would let billions thru history suffer and die just to prove a point!
Time is but a blink in jehovahs eyes, and all of this will be righted with these ones getting a do not pass go, do not have to go through Armageddon card in order to see the new world.
Why no birthdays? (their explanations are super shaky)
Only 2 mentions of birthdays in the bible blah blah blah. But also they claim it is self glorification, pagan tradition (candles etc...), and that the first century Christians purposely avoided it (spurious claim).
Of course the bible has nothing good to say about dogs or indoor plumbing.....but those seem to be ok.
Is earth is 6k years old, whats up with Dinosaurs? Cavemen?
JW's do not believe the earth is 6K years old. They believe man is roughly that old.
I had many more, these are just some that come to mind.
i found this on yahoo news... while it doesn`t raise an important question... it raises an interesting question... .
........................................... ..........................
i've been lurking for about 3 months now and thought i'd better finally sign up.
you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!
what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.
Stumpy,
Welcome to you and (hopefully), your wife. I have said this many times but if my wife can leave....anyones can.
I have some friends that used to pioneer up along the coast north of Sydney. Good people. In their early 30's now I think.
I hope it continues to go well. Don't be surprised if she vacillates back and forth a little. Its almost like stages of grief.
perhaps i'm just getting older and crankier, but it really seems to me that the jw faith is deteriorating at an accelerated rate.. case in point: this year's memorial talk.
it was one of the most incoherent messes i've ever heard.
(and i've heard a lot of memorial talks over the last 50 years....).
Hey! I watch the moon too!
Well.....only sometimes. Not that often really. I like the eclipses but sometimes they happen early in the morning. In fact come to think of it, I don't really look at the moon much.
I guess I'm just not governing body material.
ok, so we all know that the basis the org uses for its power, authority, and supposed ability to speak on behalf of god is matt 24:45.
"who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics to give them their food at the proper time?".
but how can it possibly define the wt org?.
This is the great barrier of thought. It is the greatest issue facing JW's and they can't see it. When I look back to my awakening, it all boiled down to this.
Who has the authority to tell you what to believe (scripturally speaking).
with a careful examination of scripture, Jesus is the ONLY one granted authority. He then assigns RESPONSIBILITY to others. You can apply whatever meaning to this scripture you like, but there is still no transference of authority from Jesus to....well......anyone.

Right now? This one.
has anyone else seen the hbo scientology documentary 'going clear' - wow...cults are just mind-blowing you wonder how people can fall for that garbage, then you (those of us former/fading jws) look in the mirror.. i would love for someone to make a major jw documentary like this.
'going clear' is getting a lot of press.
poor tom cruise...he looks like quite the whack job in it too.
Dang and the new mission impossible looks so good. The doc mad a good case for Cruise being complicit though because they put him in a bubble. Its good to be the king over there. Bad to be a subject.
I highly recommend the book "Going Clear". It reads like fiction and is very entertaining. It speaks to someone who is or was a JW, and JW's get an honorable mention towards the back of it.
i honestly have never heard such claptrap being delivered in a memorial talk.. the speaker repeatedly put down the way other religions administered the bread & wine, and claimed that witnesses do it exactly as the bible describes.
oh yeah????.
he forgot to mention - when reading aloud 1 corinthians 11:25 - that after passing the bread, a full meal was to be shared, before the wine was passed around!
If someone selfies while partaking I will send them money. Seriously.
